Criminal Charge or Arrest at CVG

Posted on November 3, 2016 in State Crimes in Northern Kentucky Uncategorized

I have represented defendants in Boone County, Kentucky for over 21 years.  If you were charged with a crime or arrested at CVG International Airport your case will be in Boone County, Kentucky.  CVG is the airport code for Covington, but is Greater Cincinnati International Airport.  If you land at the Cincinnati airport, you are actually in Northern Kentucky and although Covington is in Kenton County, the airport is in Boone.

Having represented numerous clients traveling to and through Cincinnati, I have developed a number of ways to communicate and handle client affairs for those who do not live in the immediate area. I will communicate with clients via telephone, email and text messages.  This may be particularly important for those that live outside of the state, or even outside of the United States.

Many cases, particularly misdemeanor offenses, can be handled without the necessity of actually appearing in court in Boone County.  This may include diversion or entry of a written plea in abstentia.  Often people have questions which are very easy to answer and simple hurdles to overcome.

Q: What about fines and court costs? If you are required to pay fines, you may mail them.

Q: How do I pay my lawyer? If you need to pay legal fees, use a credit or debit card.

Q: Do I have to come to Kentucky for community service?  If you are required to perform community service, you may generally do so where you live with any non-profit agency.

Most hurdles can be overcome.  Having practiced criminal defense in the area for over 20 years, I am very familiar with the Northern Kentucky courts, personnel, the judges and prosecutors.  I know how most cases are generally handled in advance of any hearing.

What is RENU?

Posted on December 9, 2014 in Federal Crimes in Northern KY

The Regional Narcotics Unit in Hamilton county is comprised of officers and investigators from various agencies in and throughout Hamilton County.  It is akin to the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force in Northern Kentucky.  RENU and NKY prosecute cases in both the state court as well as federal level.

The RENU is comprised of officers from Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Cincinnati Police Department, Green Township Police Department and Anderson Township. Often, the RENU also works in association with Federal ATF, DEA and FBI.

If you or a loved one has been arrested by RENU, you will likely have great difficulty finding information on line.  In the event that the defendant can be of assistance, it benefits him/her to not have their information readily available online.  For example, if the defendant may be giving information relative to suppliers or other dealers, having their information online of being arrested will allow the others to locate their information and avoid further information becoming public.

Your attorney will work with the RENU and should be able to tell you all information regarding court dates.  Much information is intentionally

If you have been arrested by RENU, you have BIG concerns.  You are likely facing felony charges for trafficking narcotics and need to hire an experienced criminal defense attorney.  For consultation and questions, call Michael Bouldin at 859-581-6453 or email at mwbouldin2@gmail.com.

Do Any Attorneys Practice Divorce and Criminal Law?

Posted on April 9, 2014 in General Criminal Law Issues - Northern KY Uncategorized

I have been practicing both criminal law (see blog) and divorce/domestic or family law (see blog) in Northern Kentucky for nearly 19 years.  Many practitioners choose to practice one or the other for any number of reasons.  Many criminal law attorneys hate the needy nature of many domestic clients.  Many family law attorneys do not like the rigid nature of criminal law, don’t want to deal with criminal defendants as clients or do not feel comfortable outside of the area of domestic law.

There is a great deal of overlap between criminal and domestic law.  There are many clients that are in juvenile or custody court due to alleged abuse which may also carry criminal charges, penalties or sanctions.  Domestic Violence and EPO/DVO practice borders both on family law and criminal law.  A finding of abuse may lead to criminal child abuse charges or assault charges.

Failure to pay child support may be handled in family court as contempt or may be charged as a misdemeanor or felony charges.  Assault on your spouse, child or significant other may end up in Juvenile Court, Family/Divorce Court, EPO/DVO court or District or Circuit Court for misdemeanor or felony charges… or in multiple courts.

With the experience of both, I am honored to have family law attorneys refer their clients who find themselves in criminal trouble.  I am equally honored that some criminal law attorneys refer their clients who have divorce, custody or other family law issues.  If you are an attorney looking to refer, call to discuss general issues or specific cases.*  If you are in need of either or both, call my office for a consultation.

Michael W.Bouldin can be contacted at mwbouldin2@gmail.com or by phone for question or appointment at 581-MIKE, 859-581-6453.

*Note: when receiving referrals from attorneys it is my practice to never “steal” clients as my practice is built primarily on referrals.  If the client wishes to change attorneys I do not accept representation.  I encourage clients to remain with their current attorney for the original purpose of representation.
